My year in review
I celebrated Jan 1 2007 in Queenstown, NZ and am finishing the year back in my beloved home county, Derbyshire. It’s strange and warming to have travelled full circle over the last 16 years – the start of a brand new chapter of my life.
2007 was full of wonder with a touch of sadness.
We started our own web business, which keeps on growing day to day. It’s been a fantastic experience so far and I’m looking forward to developing it further in 2008.
We also lived in central London – a vibrant, yet high density area which left us loving and disliking it at the same time. We visited Borough Market every free Saturday and I will always have fond memories of eating warm, melting raclette over crushed potatoes in the grounds of Southwark Cathedral. Food definitely took centre stage this year.
Work was so much fun and leaving was much harder than I imagined. I loved my job and my colleagues were fab. I just hope that my new company is as positive a place to work. I am looking forward to the challenge however.
True to my 2006 review – I kept up my writing this year, but with a focus on web authorship – creating lenses on Squidoo and writing articles. I intend to return to fiction only when the business has reached a certain level of profitability. Hopefully later in 2008.
Looking ahead – the focus is on consolidation – improving the business, upgrading our new house and concentrating on my day job, investing our money wisely. Beyond that, it’s going to be walking, walking, walking and taking full advantage of the amazing hikes in the Peak District, fresh air and delicious local produce.
Happy New Year to everyone! I wish you all a fantastic 2008.
